We're 25 minutes from West Knoxville via Pellissippi Parkway and 30 minutes from downtown via Alcoa Highway (US-129). For board and train programs, the drive is a one-time trip — your dog stays with us for the full program, and we send daily photo and video updates so you never miss a milestone.
Knoxville has plenty of trainers, but we're one of the only NePoPo® Graduate in all of East Tennessee. Clients from Bearden, Farragut, Powell, and Fountain City drive to us specifically because NePoPo® methodology gets results that traditional obedience classes can't match — especially for reactive, anxious, or strong-willed dogs.
When searching for dog training in Knoxville TN, you'll find many options. David Van Fleet at Paws & Applause is a NePoPo® Graduate bringing world-class training methods that go beyond traditional obedience to create truly transformed dogs.
Exclusive Opportunity: David Van Fleet is a NePoPo® Graduate bringing this revolutionary training system to East Tennessee. Used by military, police, and professional trainers worldwide.
Unlike typical Knoxville dog trainers who offer weekly classes, our Board & Train programs provide:
We're located on Tomotley Road in Maryville — a straight shot down Alcoa Highway (US-129) from anywhere in the Knoxville metro. Clients from Farragut typically take Pellissippi Parkway to 129 South and arrive in about 20 minutes. From West Knoxville or Bearden, it's a quick hop onto I-140 to Alcoa Highway. Even from North Knoxville, Powell, or Fountain City, you're looking at 30 minutes or less.
Here's why Knoxville families choose to make that drive instead of using a local trainer:
"We tried 3 different trainers in Knoxville before finding David. The NePoPo® method completely transformed our aggressive German Shepherd. Worth every penny and the drive from West Knoxville!"
- Michael R., Farragut"We live in Hardin Valley and tried two trainers closer to home first. Neither could handle our reactive Husky. David's board and train program was a total game-changer — our dog now walks past other dogs on the greenway without lunging. The 20-minute drive was the best decision we made."
- Amanda K., Hardin Valley"My neighbors in Bearden recommended Paws & Applause after their Lab came back from a 4-week program like a different dog. I enrolled my anxious rescue and the results exceeded every expectation. David genuinely cares about every dog he works with."
- Jason T., BeardenBoard & Train programs start at $125/day and include:
With only 15 boarding spots total, our Board & Train programs fill months in advance. Don't wait to transform your dog!
Call (865) 300-5988 to ReserveAbout 20 minutes from most Knoxville neighborhoods. From Farragut or West Knoxville, take Pellissippi Parkway to Alcoa Highway (US-129) south. From downtown or UT campus, take Alcoa Highway directly. We're at 7337 Tomotley Road in Maryville. Many clients say the drive feels shorter than crossing Knoxville in rush hour traffic.
Yes! We offer pet taxi service for $20 round-trip within the Maryville/Alcoa area. For Knoxville clients enrolling in board and train, we can discuss pickup arrangements during your free consultation. Many Knoxville clients prefer to drop off in person so they can tour the facility and meet David.
This is one of our most common cases from Knoxville. Dogs that lunge and bark at other dogs on the Greenway, at Lakeshore Park, or in neighborhoods like Sequoyah Hills often have leash reactivity that responds extremely well to NePoPo® methods. Our board and train programs address the root cause — not just the symptoms — so your dog can enjoy Knoxville's parks again.
You're not alone — many of our Knoxville clients come to us after trying 1-3 other trainers first. The difference is our method and our format. NePoPo® is a completely different system than what most local trainers use, and board and train provides 24/7 immersion that weekly classes simply can't replicate. We welcome dogs that other trainers have given up on.
